Well this is the start of my 84 aircooled project. I traded a 200s stright across for this bike. |
Well heres the aircooled when I brought it home, Not much to look at. check out that micky moused silencer! |

Never buy a trike in the dark and when its raining. I thought it had the Honda 300 kit that was offered back in the day. but it turns out after talking to the guy, the head was bored out 300 to accept the 300 std piston, who knows if this is even true, oh well it runs great!!! I'll deal with it later. by the way a 300 kit head has 7 headbolts. and oem has 6

Well after tearing down the rearend, I noticed my shock was toast and so were my pivot bearings. People pull out you swingarm bolt 1 time a year and slap some grease on them. took me 4 days to get this one out. John on 3wheelerworld had a buddy make me a new bolt since I had to cut this one out.THANKS JOHN!!!! |
Look what I found! A old Westcoast swingarm, 3 inches longer than stock, this will help keep the frontend down. I also picked up everthing in the photo and a old FOX Racing shock for 250.00 Not bad!!! |
Well I had the frame media blasted, I have a small 30 lbs sandblaster, but it would of took me a day to get it blasted. Best 35 bucks I've ever spent. |
Well after spending a bundle on the 85R and the Westcoast swingarm and a new double roller carrier I could'nt afford to powdercoatthe frame. So I ended up using Duplicolor Meatalcast paint. It leaves a nice finish and it gives that anodized color effect. its also heat, oil and gas resistant. Its a 2 part process and comes out nice. We'll see how durable it is. |

Well Guess what I found out??? Somebody on threewheelerworld asked if 85 forks would mount to a 84 frame. Nobody answered all day, that evening I went out and tried on a set of triples off a 85 R I had in the shop. Fit like a glove. Crappy thing was that I had already polished up all my 84 stuff, Doh! Oh well now I have a 85 frontend on my R |
